This is a past Subscriber Circle for volunteer managers and coordinators. Check out our Volunteer Management Workshops & Talks page to see our upcoming training sessions!

'Volunteer’ Talk is an ongoing discussion series for member agencies to connect with colleagues, discuss relevant issues and trends in the sector and exchange information. To subscribe, please refer to our subscription page.

Volunteers want to help your cause. Sometimes, they want to help so much that they’ll do whatever it takes, even if it means ignoring the boundaries of their role. Although these volunteers mean well, violating boundaries can cause some serious problems for your clients, your organization, and your volunteers. Join us to ask your questions, share your experiences and learn from your colleagues in a discussion about establishing, communicating and maintaining boundaries in your volunteer program.

  • What are the boundaries of volunteer roles in your organization?
  • Why do good volunteers cross boundaries?
  • How can you enforce boundaries, while maintaining a positive and productive program?

Read Melina Condren's article Generosity that Knows No Bounds:Why Volunteers Violate Boundaries (and What You Can Do to Stop It) then sign up to join us in October to ask your questions, share your experiences in a discussion about establishing, communicating and maintaining boundaries in your volunteer program.

Missed out on this Subscriber Circle discussion? Check out our Upcoming Events to find out how you can get in on the conversation!
