Training Event: Time Poverty and the Glorification of Busy (Subscriber Circle)
Tell a Friend About This EventTell a Friend

In recent years, the concept of “time poverty” has gone beyond the initial confines of academics into the realm of non-profit workers. Have too much to do and not enough time? Can’t invest any time to train volunteers on a new project or task? Simply finding yourself worrying that there “aren’t enough hours in the day?” You may be time-poor yourself.

Time Poverty and the Glorification of Busy - 9:30am-11:00am at Volunteer Toronto

Subscriber Circles is an ongoing discussion series for subscriber agencies to connect with colleagues, discuss relevant issues and trends in the sector and exchange information. To subscribe, please to our subscription page.

“Can you help me with this? Can you start a new project? Can you train a new volunteer? Can you meet with me for an hour?”

When we’re asked these questions in our sector, the most common response is often “I don’t have time” or “I’m too busy.” In recent years, the concept of “time poverty” has gone beyond the initial confines of academics into the realm of non-profit workers. Have too much to do and not enough time? Can’t invest any time to train volunteers on a new project or task? Simply finding yourself worrying that there aren’t enough hours in the day? You may be time-poor yourself.

In this Subscriber Circle, we’ll discuss the concept of time poverty and discuss best practices and strategies to deglorify “busy” and take back our work lives! Utilizing volunteers well, and ensuring they don’t suffer from time poverty themselves, will ensure successful work for you and your organization.
