Grassroots Growth Focus Groups

Volunteer Toronto will be hosting 4 focus groups across The City with leaders of grassroots organizations in June and July. We are interested in hearing your feedback on the needs and challenges faced by your group, particularly in regard to engaging, organizing, and keeping volunteers. This is a great opportunity to network with other community leaders, and share your experiences.

Group Requirements
A budget less than $75,000 per year
No permanent FTE paid staff

About the Focus Group
A full, catered lunch and TTC tokens will be provided for attendees. Should you need child-minding, we will be able to make accommodations. Free public parking is available on site. Please inform us of any accessibility needs, food allergies, and child-minding requests as soon as possible, so we can make necessary arrangements.

Space is limited. Please register for only 1 focus group date. We prefer that only 1 representative from each organization attend. Feel free to share this opportunity with anyone you think would be interested in attending!

About the Project
Volunteer Toronto is undertaking a two-year Grassroots Growth project to build the capacity of small, volunteer-run organizations in Ontario – i.e., community groups and non-profits with no paid staff.  We are currently researching existing resources and are conducting community consultations (with networks and agencies) and focus groups (with grassroots groups) to learn what supports are already available, and how we can fill any gaps.  At the end of this research phase, we will identify 8 training topics that would be useful and relevant for grassroots groups, and begin to develop training materials on them. We will then be pilot testing the resources in partnership with the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council's Professional Immigrant Networks, to ensure they are accessible to a variety of groups. Finally, we will launch these materials in 2017, onto the Volunteer Toronto website, where they will be available free of charge for any non-profit organization in Ontario.
