Are you looking for work? Wonder how you can volunteer to help gain skills and experience needed for the job market? Come to our Information Session for Job-Seekers which will focus on teaching you more about the volunteer process, how to search for volunteer opportunities, how volunteering can help you find work and provide opportunities to reflect on transferable skills and answer any questions you have.

Looking for work can be tough! Volunteering is a way to help you gain skills and experience for the job-market. It also allows you to try out new things, network with people and have fun!

This one hour interactive session will focus on the who, what, when, where and how of volunteering and 5 ways  volunteering can help you when looking for work.

 Questions that will be answered include:

  • How do I find a volunteer position?
  • How can I gain transferable skills from a volunteer opportunity?
  • What are the benefits of volunteering when looking for work? 
  • How do I highlight volunteering on my resume? 

 

The session will be led by Kelly DeVries, Community Engagement Coordinator at Volunteer Toronto, and will include stories from people who have volunteered while looking for work. 

 

Date:        Thursday, September 17

Time:        6pm-7pm

Please arrive between 5:30pm and 5:50pm. We will start at 6pm sharp.

                 344 Bloor Street West, Suite 404

                 2 minutes from Spadina Subway Station

Cost:        Free

  

This session is FULLY BOOKED and registration is closed. It will be offered again in October.
