At reconnect Community Health Services we offer a number of recreational programs for seniors at a number of different locations on various days of the week.  Volunteers will assist staff in creating a warm, stimulating supportive and safe environment for participants.   Programs will vary per location and a summary of the various duties is below:

Community Development Program Volunteers are needed to assist the Program Worker with delivering program activities such as meal preparation and meal service, set up refreshments and socializing with senior participants. - Prepare room for program - arrange tables and chairs - Assist with and participate in exercise class and games to help motivate participants - Assist with clean up after the program. This may include washing dishes.  

We currently have openings as follows:

 

Tuesdays:

Community Kitchen Program - 1775 Eglinton Avenue West, Doug Saunders Building, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

 

Caribbean Cultured Program - This program rotates to 4 different locations in the month. 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Thursdays:  

Community Kitchen Program, 55 Outlook Avenue West, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Community Kitchen Program,  130 Vaughan Road, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

 

 

 Additional Information:

The Program worker will provide orientation for this role.

English

Transportation:
Close to bus or street car stop
TTC tokens will be provided to assist volunteers to get to and from location if needed

Minimum age:
18


Minimum hours per week:
4 - 5

Task requirement:
Good interpersonal skills, experience working with  and sensitivity to the needs of seniors or persons with disabilities, caring, friendly and patient attitude, must be self-directed.  Food Handling Certificate an asset.
