Join us for Grassroots Week in celebration of leadership in Toronto

100 grassroots groups share how they’ve made an impact, and how you can too

 

WHAT:  Grassroots Week is a action-packed series of events coming to a Toronto Library near you! Join Volunteer Toronto, 100 grassroots groups—their stellar leaders—and non-profit experts, to learn about how you can make a real impact in Toronto. Whether you’re looking to start or grow your own grassroots organization or even if you’re just curious about the movement and how you can volunteer, join us for Grassroots Week! Register individually for the interactive panels, expert training sessions, a celebration brunch, and one massive volunteer fair by clicking here. 

 WHO:

Grassroots groups from across the city - about 100 of them - will be at the Toronto Reference Library on Sunday, March 26th, 2017, for the Grassroots Week volunteer fair. You can also catch some of the groups featured throughout the week leading up to the fair, participating as experts on panel presentations or providing training sessions. 

Here’s the highlights:

Jonathan Goldsbie, News Editor at Canadaland
He’s covered urban issues for NOW, Torontoist, Eye Weekly, Spacing, OpenFile, The Grid, and as a columnist for the National Post.

Deanna Lentini, Founder of Fix the 6ix
Fix the 6ix is a grassroots organization that addresses poverty in Toronto. Launched by students at York University in 2016 they collect new and partly-used gift cards to help feed, and provide relief for Torontonians in need.

Michael Prosserman, Founder of UNITY Charity 
UNITY Charity is an organization that empowers youth to be role models and leaders in their communities through after school programs. To date it has reached over 100,000+ youth through Break Dancing, Graffiti Art, Spoken Word Poetry & Beat Boxing.
