6 Tips for Posting on Volunteer Toronto’s Website

They say that change is the only constant in life these days, and we appreciate your patience during our transition to the new website and database. To help you in better navigating our website, we’d like to share a few tips about posting volunteer opportunities.
  1. Make sure you complete the “how to apply” section so volunteers can easily apply.
  2. Try to include an estimate of the number or range of hours per week – people like to know what they are committing to.
  3. Unless you have a compelling, legally sanctioned reason, be careful about specifying age (18 is an adult), gender, or any other characteristic that could be considered discriminatory.
  4. Location is very important to potential volunteers. You can specify a city when completing the posting, so rather than just using Toronto, you can specify Scarborough, Etobicoke, North York or Toronto. Including the major intersection is also helpful.
  5. Please note that we don’t support paid positions or internships (paid or unpaid). We only deal with volunteer opportunities.
  6. An edit is always a good thing! Try to check your postings so you can view what the public sees. This is where potential volunteers go to search opportunities.

We’re here to help, so please feel free to get in touch with Mona ElSayeh, Subscriptions Manager, if you have any questions.
