The Impact of Volunteering

Paula Speevak, President and CEO of Volunteer Canada

The goal of this workshop is to explore the benefits and approaches to measuring the social and economic value and impact of volunteering from the perspective of organizations, communities, businesses, governments, educational institutions and volunteers themselves. A presentation on the broader context will be presented as a springboard for participants to engage in dialogue addressing the following questions:  Is it important to measure the value and impact of volunteering?  If so,  for what purpose?  What measurement tools currently exist?  What are the gaps and what would be the ideal tool or model?  In addition to providing a learning opportunity,  this input from participants in this workshop will help Volunteer Canada and volunteer centres further our collective work in this area.

Paula Speevak joined Volunteer Canada after serving as the Managing Director of Carleton University’s Centre for Voluntary Sector Research and Development.
