Featured Volunteer - Victoria Nolan
Pan Am/ Parapan Am Games Volunteer

Tickets for the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games are officially on sale, and Victoria Nolan is not only excited to watch them, but also to volunteer at them. As a motivational speaker, author and Paralympian, Victoria has overcome countless obstacles. Her spirit will undoubtedly inspire others to volunteer for the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.

At the age of 18, Victoria was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, an eye disease that starts with night blindness, followed by a progressive narrowing of vision. By the time she had her second child, Victoria lost the majority of her eyesight, but she never let her vision loss make her feel defeated.

Instead, she decided to try something new and took up rowing at age 31 and through hard-work and dedication gained a spot Canada’s para-rowing team and went on to race in the 2008 and 2012 Paralympic Games.

Now, Victoria has the chance to be at the heart of the excitement as a volunteer with the TORONTO 2015 Games. She was thrilled to apply because of her love for sports, especially her passion for rowing. She knows first-hand how inspiring an international multi-sport Games are and wants to be part of creating the excitement for spectators and athletes coming in the summer of 2015.

What's Victoria’s Advice for Those Looking to Volunteer for the TORONTO 2015 Games?

"Definitely do it! It is going to be an amazing experience in so many ways. We’ll make sure visitors have a memorable experience, we’ll help athletes perform at their best and we’ll celebrate phenomenal achievements in sport by building pride in our country and our communities."
