“One of the most memorable moments I had as a mentor was when I handed my 12 year old mentee a baseball bat. Before then, he never had the opportunity to hold one. That made me realize how privileged I am to just play sports at such a young age. He now feels like baseball is his second favourite sport! That really inspired me to help him experience as many new things as we can with our time together. This moment would have never happened had I not volunteered.”

Share the joy of fresh produce!

This is the time of year when the city comes alive with people enjoying the sunshine, fantastic events and tasty, local food. Nothing beats grilled corn, juicy strawberries and freshly picked peaches after a day at the beach or a cultural festival in the city. Indeed, all of those products are grown right here in Ontario! For a full listing you can visit Foodland Ontario’s Availability Guide.

After a long winter, it is so nice to be outside and enjoy the warm weather and time with other people. In fact, there are many volunteer opportunities where you can combine fresh food + the outdoors + time with friends or family.

Take for example volunteering to:

Are you volunteering in the summer sun? Show us! Tweet us photos of you and your friends or family taking part in outdoor volunteer activities!

Organizations We Love!

Dusk Dances is an outdoor dance festival bringing high quality contemporary and traditional dance to public parks. Choreographers from various backgrounds are invited to create a ten-minute piece inspired by the park's natural environment. As dusk descends, a theatrical host leads the audience throughout the park–pets and children in tow–from one magical dance experience to the next. Dusk Dances is always pay-what-you-can event, making their performances not only artistically engaging, but also accessible.

Event volunteers are needed for their August 3-9th event. Help with ushering, set-up/tear down, security, donation collection and the information table. Find out more!
