When Can I Volunteer?
Share |
Start Early. If you're looking to get your 40 hours we strongly suggest that you start looking for volunteer opportunities in Grade 9 or 10 to ensure you have your hours by Grade 12. Who knows? You might fall in love with volunteering and it can lead you to some amazing opportunities!
Bonus: Get a certificate from the Government of Ontario. If you volunteer at least 3 hours between April 10 - May 23, 2016 you will be participating in ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge which is a province wide campaign to encourage youth to volunteer. And you can get an awesome certificate acknowledging your volunteer hours during that time. Click here to learn more.
So when can I volunteer? All Year Round. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall - volunteering will be there for you. On Your Schedule. You can find positions that ask for anything from a 1 year commitment, to a 3 month commitment and some special events will only need you for a day.
But every non-profit has different volunteer positions and vacancies, which often change based on what they need. If you know an organization you want to volunteer for, contact them directly and ask what roles they have currently available.
