Full Day Training for Board Members - All 4 Sessions

Includes:
Session 1 Your Roles, Responsibilities and Non-Profit Governance
Session 2 -
Fiduciary Basics and Budgets
Session 3 -
Strategic Planning
Session 4 -
Board Recruitment and Growth

Are you new to your organization's Board of Directors? Not sure about: what you're supposed to do during and between meetings? What your duties are around liability, risk management and financial statements? How to support the strategic planning process? How to find new board members and ensure the future success of your Board? Learn all about your role as a board member, your fiduciary duty, the role of money management, planning for the future and helping your board grow in this full day Training Session for Board Members. As an 8-hour interactive workshop (lunch is included!), you'll have an opportunity to learn everything from our four-part training series in a single day! This workshop is ideal for new board members already sitting on non-profit boards, and board members with some experience looking to sharpen their skills and knowledge.

By the end of the day, you'll know the answers to the following questions:

  • What is the purpose of a Board of Directors for non-profit organizations?
  • What do Boards do? And what do they not do?
  • What is my role as a board member and what is expected of me?
  • What is my fiduciary duty as a Board Member?
  • Who is liable for what when I sit on a Board?
  • What do I need to know to help provide financial guidance as a Board Member?
  • What is strategic planning and what does it look like for Boards?
  • What options are there to help our Board make a strategic plan?
  • What is my role in helping to find new board members?
  • How do I develop a skills matrix and identify knowledge gaps on the Board?
  • Why is a diverse Board important for organizations in Toronto?
