Want to learn more about volunteering from people who currently volunteer? Come to this session to learn more about the who, what, when and where of volunteering. You'll leave with a clear understanding of the opportunities available to you and how to find a great role.

Our evening will start with a brief introduction to volunteering and how to find a great volunteer position for you! Then each panelist will speak about what they do in their volunteer roles, how they got involved and what they enjoy about volunteering. After they have shared, participants will be welcome to ask questions of the panelists about their experiences. After this hour and a half session you will leave inspired by the variety of volunteer opportunities in the city and the impact you can make!

Our panelists are:

Ambreen Ahmed - as a newcomer to Toronto, Ambreen quickly became involved in volunteering as a way of making connections and using her skills. In her role as an Outreach Volunteer, Ambreen engages and educates members of the public about volunteering. From that position she began volunteering at different organizations to assist newcomers adjusting to life in Canada and those seeking paid employment. She is now an active member of the Toronto Newcomer's Cabinet.

Mollify - as someone who enjoys arts and cultural events, Mollify began volunteering as a way of becoming involved in various events across the city. She quickly fell in love with volunteering as it created ways to meet new people, gain work experience and use her time in a fulfilling way. She's now been actively volunteering at special events for seven years, and this year alone she had volunteered for 12 different events across the city.

Alysha Try - an active volunteer for many years, Alysha writes a Communications Assistant volunteering by writing a newsletter for a non-profit from home. She also volunteers as a board member providing support to a non-profit organization.  She says it is through volunteering that she has gotten to where she is today in life, and she looks forward to telling you more about it!

This is an awesome opportunity for you to get your questions about volunteering answered directly from people who volunteer.
