Curious about how people become board members? Want to know what's involved in sitting on a non-profit's board?

This two hour interactive workshop focuses on what to look for and what's involved in volunteering on a non-profit's board of directors, including responsibilities, legal aspects, benefits, and how to find the right fit for you.

Becoming a member of a non-profit organization’s board can be a meaningful way to apply your experience in the nonprofit sector at the governance level to help advance a nonprofit's social impact. It can be an incredibly rewarding way for professionals to give back while learning new skills that can enhance their own careers.
Becoming A Board Member is a two hour interactive workshop perfect for professionals who have an interest in volunteering at a leadership level and want to learn more about becoming a Board Director before they commit. 

By the end of the session you will have a clear understanding of:

  • The typical responsibilities of board members and why non-profits need them
  • The benefits of volunteering on a non-profit board
  • How to find the right non-profit board to join

Registration & Cancellation Policy

Registrations are accepted at the discretion of Volunteer Toronto.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations received within 48 hours of an event.
Registration can be transferred to another member of your organization. 

Written notice must be received more than 48 hours prior to the event date in order to receive a refund. Please send your written cancellation to Registered participants who fail to attend an event will be invoiced for the full fee, due 30 days from the date of the invoice.
