TAVA November Meeting & Workshop

Gaining an awareness of our unconscious biases enables us to recognize and take action to disrupt the negative impact of biases in both personal and professional settings. In this way, individuals can engage in more authentic relationships with others. When working with volunteer engagement professionals, it is important to develop strong partnerships with volunteers and to be able to understand the diverse backgrounds and lived experiences that they may come from. In this workshop, participants will gain the tools necessary to create an equitable and inclusive environment which is important as our society becomes increasingly diverse. A positive, inclusive working culture improves productivity attracts and retains the best talent and volunteers and leads to greater employee satisfaction. Participants will:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of unconscious bias and how it manifests
  • Better understand the impact of bias in personal and professional settings
  • Access tools to disrupt bias in personal and professional settings
