CCVI: What Is It?

What is the Canadian Code For Volunteer Involvement?

The CCVI is a national standard for how your organization works with people who volunteer to help serve your mission. Find out more on its history.

Why Should Your Organization Adopt it?

Engaging volunteers in a respectful, meaningful and inclusive way is the responsibility of everyone in your organization. The Code provides a road map for your organization to acknowledge volunteers as an important resource and treat them fairly and responsibly.

What Does it Mean to Adopt the Code?

Adopting the Code means an organization agrees that:

  • there is value in fostering a relationship with the community through volunteer involvement,
  • the relationship implies both rights and responsiblities,
  • the organization will strive to follow 'best practice' guidelines for volunteer engagement and management.

Statement of Commitment

Volunteer Toronto encourages all voluntary sector organizations to engage all stakeholders in this dialogue and move to proudly state that they have adopted the Code.
