What qualities make a great leader? Honesty? Confidence? The ability to inspire?

In the recent movie, The Imitation Game, Benedict Cumberbatch’s character said:

“Sometimes it is the people who no one imagines anything of, who do the things that no one can imagine.”

If you think you might have what it takes to be a great leader, consider developing those skills through volunteering! Taking on a position of responsibility is a great way to build the confidence you need to lead people and projects. Don’t believe us? Take a look at this Forbes article!

Here are a few roles to get you started:

Event Committee Member, Lead Volunteer
Ovarian Cancer Canada

Board Director

Organizations We Love!

For half a century, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has worked to protect the future of nature. WWF is Canada's largest international conservation organization with the active support of more than 150,000 Canadians. They connect the power of a strong global network to on-the-ground conservation efforts across Canada, with offices in Vancouver, Prince Rupert, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, St. John's, Iqaluit and Inuvik.

Their mission is to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, by:

  • Ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable.
  • Promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.
  • Conserving the world's biological diversity

WWF-Canada is currently recruiting volunteers for their 25th Annual Canada Life CN Tower Climb. Go to to learn more and get involved!
