"On Your Mark" Administrative Volunteer

Reporting to Program Coordinators, the Administrative volunteer will perform a range of administrative and office support functions for On Your Mark to facilitate the efficient operation of the program.

Responsibilities:

This will include, but not limited to:

·       Data entry

.      Contacting parents via phone and/or email

·       General clerical duties including photocopying, scanning and emailing

·        Archiving

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish and/or Portuguese is REQUIRED.
  • Computer skills are necessary - specifically EXCEL and including Outlook and Word. Publisher and Adobe Acrobat desired, but not required.
  • Must be courteous and personable with good interpersonal skills and a friendly manner.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in English.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing to take initiative, and committed to meeting deadlines.

Expectations:

·       The volunteer will be reliable with mature insight, able to meet deadlines through careful time management and well organized with attention to detail.

Time Commitment:

·       A regular commitment of 4-5 hours weekly during office hours (Mon- Fri: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm).  

Location

·       1081 Bloor St. W, lower level (Dufferin & Bloor) 1 block East from Dufferin Station.

About us:

Working Women Community Centre (WWCC) is a non-profit, community-based immigrant and refugee women’s organization providing a wide variety of services such as community development, settlement counselling, employment and placement support, support groups and English Language classes. All staff of the agency is responsible for demonstrating support and commitment to the mandate and objectives of the Centre. Staff is expected to work in the spirit of cooperation and to actively promote harmonious relations among staff members.

Program Description: The On Your Mark program is a community-based program that recruits volunteers to work one on-one with up to 200 students from Portuguese and Spanish-speaking backgrounds. The program supports improved academic achievement for those students experiencing significant difficulty in school. This position is intended to create robust volunteer recruitment strategies that result in quality tutors that support the program
