Research Report: Why Toronto's Meals on Wheels Programs are Facing a Critical Shortage of Volunteers

After noticing Meals on Wheels programs were always recruiting, Melina Condren, Volunteer Toronto's director of non-profit services, set out to research why.

In speaking to 19 programs from across the city, what we discovered was that there is a critical shortage of volunteers in Meals on Wheels programs and some are scaling back services because of this shortage of people power. With seniors now outnumbering children in Toronto, the needs for Meals on Wheels is only expected to increase.
