Volunteer Toronto training expert, Sammy Feilchenfeld was recently interviewed for The Volunteer Management Report's "Don't Wait: Create A Dismissal Policy Today" article. In the interview, Sammy outlined the key components of writing a dismissal policy, including a policy statement, staff and volunteer responsibilities and dismissal procedures.

Sammy advocates a more proactive approach to volunteer dismissal, he says, “Organizations can go a long time before they ever have to dismiss a volunteer, but the biggest mistake is to make the policy while they’re in the process of dismissing a volunteer, or even after the fact...having the policy ahead of time means the process will be transparent and all volunteers will know they are subject to it.”

The Volunteer Management Report is distributed monthly to non-profit volunteer managers across North America. Sammy's interview is featured on page 5 of the February issue, you can read the full article here.
